My Story

Hi! I’m Mary Hathaway, a board certified licensed master social worker. Through my work with families involved in foster care and with single parents facing poverty, I know that hard, difficult, and even traumatic things are a reality of life for all of us. However, I believe that support changes stories. I would love to come alongside you as a part of your support team whether you are facing life transitions, loss, trauma, anxiety, or depression. Whether you’re a teenager facing insecurity or anxiety, a young adult experiencing huge transitions, or someone dealing with experiences from your past causing you pain in the present, I’m passionate about collaborating with you in a plan that allows you to heal from painful experiences and face the current challenges of life.

How I work Through a collaborative and strengths-based approach, I give space for you to talk through your experiences, emotions, and challenges, while creating an individualized treatment plan that we agree upon together to fit your goals. I utilize tenets of Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), which focuses on mindfulness and accepting thoughts and feelings while staying connected to the values most important to you, as well as narrative therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems. I believe that you are the expert of your life and situation and treat each person I work with individually, rather than using a one-size fits all approach. I also believe in the importance of our bodies in our healing and utilize somatic techniques such as deep breathing, movement, and body scans with my clients.

About Mary I love being outside and am a huge advocate of walks (long and short) for mental health. I enjoy cooking, a good novel, podcasts, nerding out about theology, and playing games with my friends. I’m a new mom to a sweet baby boy and love a slow Saturday morning with him and my husband. I’m passionate about community building as a way to bridge gaps between people.

Mary’s session fee is $100 per 50-minute session.
